Chris Boon

Managing Director, Financial Adviser

Chris has spent more than a decade working personally with clients as well as training advisers, throughout the country, on how to professionally provide individuals, families and businesses with tailor-made Personal and Business Insurance Plans that meet their unique circumstances and needs. Through his training, coaching and mentoring Chris has helped many advisers to develop very successful insurance careers. Adelphi Insurance Brokers Ltd comes out of Chris’s vision to create a customer-focused insurance brokerage that helps clients through every step of the process, from quote to claim.

Andrea Phillips

General Manager, Financial Adviser

Andrea is our dynamic, efficient and super organised General Manager. Since she first entered the workforce, Andrea has worked as an administrator or office manager for a number of very successful companies. Whether it’s working with the Insurance Companies, Head of Claims or working directly with clients, Andrea is highly organised, always keeping up to date with the advice process.  Andrea has a unique understanding of client needs and is always there to lend a helping hand from quote to claim.


Chris Goddard

Financial Adviser, Insurance Specialist

Chris is a vastly experienced adviser devoting the last decade to helping individuals, families and small business owners develop personalised insurance plans to meet their individual circumstances and needs. Chris is a Financial Adviser whose unique skill is making insurance simple and easily understood. He is as passionate about classic cars as he is about ensuring people have the right insurance cover in place for when they need it the most – claim time – and Chris will be right there with a helping hand when that time comes.

Michael Boon

Financial Adviser, Insurance Specialist

Michael has returned to New Zealand after spending 24 years working in senior management roles in London. His experience includes managing eight different Stations for London Underground tasked with ensuring the safety of commuters as they moved through the different Stations (over one billion people a year use London Underground). Michael is now a Financial Adviser living in Canterbury and is passionate about ensuring people’s financial wellbeing and providing Personal Insurance Plans to meet their personal circumstances and unique needs.

Nic Young

Financial Adviser, Insurance Specialist

Returning to Taranaki from Wellington four years ago, Nic moved his family back to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities that the region provides. Passionate about customer service and helping people, Nic has nine years of experience as a mortgage and insurance adviser. He is looking forward to developing a long and rewarding career with Adelphi Insurance Brokers and helping individuals and families make informed decisions about their Health and Risk insurance needs. Outside of work, Nic is keenly involved in restoring and conserving antique furniture and owns the Old Cheese Factory in Te Roti, which he is slowly restoring, hoping to preserve a little of Taranaki’s history.

Angela Basford

Angela is a Financial Adviser based in sunny Napier. Having recently moved back to NZ after 13 years living in Australia, Angela is passionate about helping individuals, families, and business owners protect their most valuable asset – their ability to earn income. Along with her three young boys, Angela enjoys the ocean, kayaking, bush walks and mountain biking.

Darshan Basavaraja – BCom

Darshan is a Financial Adviser based in Central Auckland. He graduated from the University of Auckland and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, majoring in both finance and economics. Darshan is a professional individual who is devoted to serving his clients with their financial goals and insurance needs at the forefront. With his skill-set and knowledge in the financial services industry, he is able to provide the right financial advice to ensure that all his clients have the right cover in place for their individual circumstances and needs, whether making an insurance claim or investing in KiwiSaver.

Foster van Gruting

Financial Adviser, Insurance Specialist

Foster is an experienced Financial Adviser who has worked in the insurance, financial and legal industries for over 30 years, both in New Zealand and overseas. He is motivated to use his extensive skills and life experiences when he advises and guides his clients toward achieving their own financial goals, assisting them with protecting what is important to them and their most precious possession – their families. Having worked for a large trustee organisation in New Zealand, Foster has a great understanding when it comes to estate planning, including the requirements when setting up a personal will. One of the wildest activities Foster ever did was jumping into the famous Devil’s pool on the narrow edge of the Victoria falls in Zambia.

Dr. Niroshini (Nina) Giles

Financial Adviser, Insurance Specialist

Nina is a Financial Adviser living in Dunedin. She holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the U.K., followed by a postgraduate qualification in Total Quality Management. Nina has been actively involved in cancer research at major universities in the USA, Australia and New Zealand, and has also worked as a Medical Recruitment Adviser for the Southern District Health Board. Nina’s commitment to people’s wellbeing has now moved to a personalised and community-based role with Adelphi, where she enjoys assisting individuals

with important insurance decisions, helping them to protect themselves and their loved ones from life’s unexpected changes. In her free time Nina enjoys painting, swimming, and skiing with her family in Queenstown.

Tony Burnet

Financial Adviser, Insurance Specialist

Tony is an Insurance Specialist living in the beautiful Coromandel. He has run his own businesses for the last 30 years. During that time he was involved in spear-heading global initiatives for Shell.
He has be involved in recruiting staff off-shore through NZ Immigration for many years and has a keen understanding of moulding a team from diverse backgrounds. More recently he has operated a Staff Training and Development Company operating both in NZ and overseas.
He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his clients, particularly in the area of personal and business protection.

Joshua Stirling

Josh is a Financial Adviser working throughout the Auckland region. After finishing his studies in finance and economics at the University of Auckland, Josh followed his passions and skillset to the insurance advisory industry. Josh has a firm devotion to his clients with the professional service he provides, ensuring that he delivers the best advice tailored to his clients’ financial needs. Josh aims to bring the optimal level of protection to his clients. He achieves this through attentive analysis and use of his knowledge and skillset in financial products, all to provide sound advice that instils confidence.

Andrew Wilkinson

Financial Adviser, KiwiSaver and Insurance Specialist

Andrew is an Financial Adviser who, since graduating from Victoria University in 2013, has already had substantial exposure to the financial services industry, working across insurances, mortgages, investments and financial planning. Andrew brings a fresh perspective to financial advice and seeks to share his knowledge to as wide of an audience as possible – in particular, the younger demographics looking for a ‘head-start’ in life. When he heard that Adelphi was looking for a dedicated KiwiSaver Adviser, Andrew leapt, at this opportunity – because it gave him an opportunity to advise full-time on arguably the best financial product available to Kiwis. Andrew is passionate about building long term relationships with his clients and wants to stick with them long enough to see their financial goals through to fruition.

Ian Piercy

Financial Adviser, Insurance Specialist

Ian is a Financial Adviser – Insurance Specialist based in the South Island. He has a bachelor’s degree in Applied Management. Ian and his wife, Yvette are now working together as partners in their own business within the Insurance Industry, creating a power couple that are focused on getting you the right cover to protect your financial security. Having been self-employed for much of his working life Ian has experience in the dairy and tourism industries and has also held various positions in the corporate world. Yvette’s experience in corporate roles and tourism has allowed her to utilise her expertise in administration and business practises that are crucial for success in the Insurance Industry and vital to their business. Ian and Yvette both have a high level of business acumen. Ian spent many years in the military as an army officer which has shaped him into a very disciplined and efficient person who does what he says he will do. He is a graduate of the Australian War College. Ian and Yvette gain a lot of pleasure out of assisting others and have a focus on protecting what is important to you and your family. Planning is the key to securing your financial future and Ian and Yvette are excited to be able to help their clients achieve this. 

Sonia Caird

Compliance Officer

Sonia joined Adelphi Insurance Brokers in November 2018 after restructuring her clothing business to an online model due to the Canterbury Earthquakes. Building on her experiences, over the last 27 years, as a successful businesswoman, Sonia moved into the role of Compliance Officer, which fits nicely with her keenness for compliance and accuracy. Outside of Adelphi, Sonia enjoys the gym and catching up with family and friends.

Silke Kellig

Executive Assistant and CRM Manager

Silke has been part of the Adelphi team since early 2019 when she came to New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa and irrevocably fell in love with its beautiful landscape. An outdoor enthusiast and avid reader in her free time, her other love – spreadsheets – landed her the job at Adelphi. Silke is the go-to-person for reports, lists and grammar questions. She is passionate about customizing Adelphi’s CRM (AIM) to enhance efficiency, user friendliness and, ultimately, client experience.
